It's Monday! What are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What are you Reading? (#IMWAYR) is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys with a kid/YA-lit spin hosted by Kellee at Unleashing Readers and Jen at Teach Mentor Texts

Past Reads: Fall is finally here! Sweatshirts, bonfires, apple crisp, and sleeping with the windows open, these are all reasons why I love fall (winter on the other hand? no thanks!). There’s nothing better than being curled up on the couch, tucked in under a blanket, the cool breeze blowing in, with a good book open in front of me. Plus, these last few weeks I’ve had some GOOD books to spend my time with.

The last three books I finished? Absolutely LOVED them! Winger by Andrew Smith, Pivot Point by Kasie West and Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein - add all three to your TBR list. I don’t want to give too much away (reviews coming soon), but they each offered something so different and unique. Winger might have one of the best and truly honest narrators I’ve ever read. Pivot Point features two stories in one, making it impossible for the reader to favor one path over the other. Code Name Verity is a beautiful, heart wrenching story of friendship set during WWII. Honestly, just read them all.

Current Reads: I am just about to start my next book - The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin. I honestly have no idea what to expect with this book. I don’t know very much about it, other than I’ve seen it recommended on other book blogs. After the last three books I’ve read, I hope this one keeps my “good book” streak going.

Here’s the goodreads summary of the book: Mara Dyer doesn’t think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
It can.

She believes there must be more to the accident she can’t remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.
There is.

She doesn’t believe that after everything she’s been through, she can fall in love.
She’s wrong.

Future Reads: I’m really starting to miss summer as my reading pace is seriously slowing down. Instead of 3-4 books a week, I’m down to 1. Luckily, the last few reads have been so good that I don’t mind them lingering longer than I’m used to. Here’s the next two I have on deck: The Testing by Joelle Charbonneau and Embrace by Jessica Shirvington.

What are you reading? What have you just finished? What are your top recommendations? Leave me a comment as I'm always looking for books to add to my To-Be-Read list!

  1. These are unfamiliar titles to me. Thanks for sharing these YA novels. The book covers look very inviting and interesting.
