Review Policy

Authors and publishers, I’m happy to review any young adult or middle grade novels that my high school students would show interest in. Please read my review policy before sending a request.

Reading Preferences: I read, enjoy, and review all genres of YA and MG fiction and nonfiction. My favorite genres include Contemporary, Dystopian/Post-Apocalyptic, Paranormal, Historical Fiction, Romance, and some Science Fiction. Even if it’s not something I personally enjoy, I will gladly review your book as I have a WIDE range of reading preferences within my students. (Note: if you are requesting a review of a book in a series, and it’s a series I have not read, I will request all previous books so that my reading and review are complete).

I will accept ARCs, Uncorrected Proofs, Galleys, or final books (hardcover or paperback). I do have a Kindle, however, because I add all books received to my classroom library, I prefer hard copies of books (I will review ebooks as long as it’s also available in print).  Any book I receive will not be sold, however it will be added to my classroom library and shared with other teachers to read and recommend.

Time Frame: I try my best to review books in a timely manner, but please understand that my students and teaching come first. If you have a specific date request, I would appreciate a 2-3 month lead time. If there is a specific time you would like the book review posted (release date, blog tour, etc...) please let me know and I will do my best to make it happen.

Reviews: My reviews include the title and author (as well as links to the author’s social media), a picture of the cover, the publisher summary, a link to purchase the book, my thoughts (based on plot, characters, theme, writing style, overall enjoyability, etc.), and a rating (based on 5 stars). I end my reviews with a recommendation for who else might enjoy this book. I am a HUGE supporter of adolescent literacy and therefore I want to pass on as many books as I can. I make my reviews clear, straightforward, and honest in hopes that other readers will know if they might enjoy the book as well. I post all of my reviews here and link them to Twitter. I also post them on Goodreads and Amazon.

Extras: I welcome the opportunity to participate in blog tours, giveaways, or author interviews as well. Please contact me with specific requests.

Disclaimer: If I accept a book for review, I cannot guarantee that I will read and review it. If I start a book that I am not able to get into, I will probably abandon it; therefore, I won’t be able to review it. I will, however, pass the book on to someone else - student, teacher, librarian, or blogger - who has more interest in the storyline and invite them to write a guest review.

Thank you for considering The Uninterrupted Reader to review your book!
